Home Tip #99 – Quick Bath clean-up

THIS SUPER DUPER FAST CLEAN WILL TAKE LESS THAN 3 minutes:

You need just three things:

*  Instant Toilet disposable scrubbies that you can hide somewhere in the bathroom
*  The holder for the scrubbies
*  Paper Towels

With these items you can clean & sparkle in a flash

YOUR WILL USE THE SAME SCRUBBIE FOR THE SINK AND THE TOILET.  YOU just do the sink first.

BEFORE you clean the toilet, just let the hot water run for a minute and then fill up the sink with about 2 cups of water.  Moisten the scrubbie.  Now run it quickly over the sink and around the faucets and anywhere else around the sink that needs it.  Don’t use all cleanser on the sink…just a quick wipe and then lay the scrubbie in the toilet.  Finish your sink clean up with paper towels.  The only use really for the scrubbie is to get some disinfectant soap in there.

Now use the same scrubbie for the bowl and GET YOURSELF A COUPLE OF CLEAN PAPER TOWELS BEFORE YOU BEGIN TO CLEAN THE BOWL.

NOW … clean around the OUTSIDE of the toilet.  Last lift the lid and scrub just under the lid, all around the lid and finally the (gross) INSIDE of the bowl.  Wrap disposable sponge  in the paper towels and discard in waste basket.

Moisten a paper towel and run it quickly over any parts of the floor that need it.

FINALLY rip off a clean paper towel and just lay it on top of the waste can, and push down gently.  It will cover the trash and yet give a tidy appearance.

If your company is drop in … you can even do this quick clean-up immediately after your guests arrive.  Just excuse yourself and say you were on your way to the bathroom and ask your company to make themselves at home.

This has saved me many times when I knew my guest bath was not company ready.

Black Beans in crockpot

Beans are a rich source of both soluble and insoluble fiber. Soluble fiber can be dissolved in water. This type of fiber can actually lower cholesterol, because it binds with cholesterol particles in the bloodstream and removes them from the body. Insoluble fiber does not break down as it moves through the body. Instead, it adds bulk to the stools, a natural laxative effect that also helps alleviate problems associated with hemorrhoids. Both types of fiber have been shown to provide significant health benefits.

Protein is another one of the health benefits of beans. In beans, they are the richest source of vegetable protein available. Protein is vital for building strong muscles and repairing damaged tissues. Our bodies cannot make or store protein, so we must get adequate amounts from our diet. Beans, when combined with whole grain products such as rice, form complete, healthy proteins for vegans or others who are limiting their intake of animal products.

Antioxidants are compounds shown to reduce the risk of certain types of cancer, most notably prostate and colorectal cancers. Beans are an excellent source of antioxidants. In a study done by the United States Department of Agriculture in 2004, different foods were ranked by their antioxidant content. Of the top four foods rich in antioxidants, beans held three of the positions: small red beans ranked first, followed by red kidney beans in third and pinto beans in 4th.

If you suffer from diabetes, beans offer a source of complex carbohydrates that will not cause a rapid increase in blood sugar. Because the starches in beans take longer to break down, they have a low glycemic index. This means that sugar is released more slowly into the bloodstream, which keeps total glucose levels lower over a longer period of time. They are also low in calories, an excellent benefit if you are trying to watch your weight and still enjoy rich, satisfying meals.

What happened to Israel? Reflections on Psalm 106 today

Give thanks to the Lord for He is good, His love endures forever.  Blessed are they who constantly do what is right.

The Israelites soon forgot what God had done; God judged.
They exchanged the glory of God for an idol – God judged.
They stopped believing God’s promises – God judged,
      plaques followed, but then God intervened.
They disobeyed, worshipped idols and did even worse things;
They defiled & prostituted themselves.  God judged.
Many times God delivered Israel, and God took pity and heard their cries.

Praise be to the Lord,the God of Israel, let all the people say Amen!
