Are our Foundations being destroyed?

Psalm 11:3 – When the foundations are being destroyed, what can the righteous do?

I came across this verse in my reading this morning.  How timely this verse is.  We know, of course, that God’s word, which is living, active and sharper than any two edged sword is always alive, replete with meaning.  Some truths are self evident, some we must dig deeper to behold God’s mysterious ways.  But before I dig deeper into this verse, my question for myself and for you is can the righteous do when they see foundations being destroyed?  What is your answer.

Your sense or answer is that when the foundations are being destroyed we must put our hope and our trust in God.  I believe that type of faith is always true, and will always be rewarded.

My initial answer is of course to “get to work”.   Rebuild those foundations.  But hold on a minute, is that what God really wants?  Does God sometimes destroy foundations so that they can never again be built.  Or does he tear down so that we can once again lay proper foundations.  Does he ever leave any of the original foundation, repair and/or add on to it?  I’m going to spend some time exploring what’s happened through history.  When I’m through, I’m confident I’ll have my answer.

My feeling is that not only are the foundations of America being destroyed, but even more sinister is my sense that the erosion of our once sturdy walls lies in a weakened infrastructure.  Yes, we need to repair, rebuild and even replace, but if we choose a method other than those tried and true, methods devised by weak men, rather than God’s wise counsel, we will be ensnared by the work of our hands.

So, let us begin.  To be continued  . . .
