Excerpted from Tasty Trix re: Ember Day and what it means: According to Western Christian churches, Ember Days are sets of three days of fasting and prayer – a Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday – that fall in the same week, and occur four times a year. On these days, meat is forbidden, but eggs, dairy, and fish are allowed. Frankly, I’m not sure I understand where the element of sacrifice comes in.
