Genesis 2:18-25 – A Helper for Adam

Gen 2:18 The LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him."

Paying Taxes to Ceasar or to your local Government

Matthew 22:15-22 (New International Version) Paying Taxes to Caesar 15Then the Pharisees went out and laid plans to trap him in his words. 16They sent their disciples to him along with the Herodians. "Teacher," they said, "we know you are a man of integrity and that you teach the way of God in accordance with the truth. You aren't swayed by men, because you pay no attention to who they are. 17Tell us then, what is your opinion? Is it right to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" 18But Jesus, knowing their evil intent, said, "You hypocrites, why are you trying to trap me? 19Show me the coin used for paying the tax." They brought him a denarius, 20and he asked them, "Whose portrait is this? And whose inscription?" 21"Caesar's," they replied. Then he said to them, "Give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." 22When they heard this, they were amazed. So they left him and went away.

Flax Seed Cookies with nuts and raisins

Bake off one batch (about 32 good sized cookies) and freeze the rest. I form the uncooked dough into two batches which I make into a roll. Then I just freeze it, and cut off as many cookies as I want when I want them. It takes me about an hour, start to finish with clean up to make and freeze the dough.

I’m reminded not to forget the Lord’s benefits today

Psalm 103 Of David. 1 Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. 2 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits- 3 who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, 4 who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, 5 who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. 6 The LORD works righteousness and justice for all the oppressed. 7 He made known his ways to Moses, his deeds to the people of Israel: 8 The LORD is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love. 9 He will not always accuse, nor will he harbor his anger forever; 10 he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities. 11 For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; 12 as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us. 13 As a father has compassion on his children, so the LORD has compassion on those who fear him; 14 for he knows how we are formed, he remembers that we are dust. 15 As for man, his days are like grass, he flourishes like a flower of the field; 16 the wind blows over it and it is gone, and its place remembers it no more. 17 But from everlasting to everlasting the LORD's love is with those who fear him, and his righteousness with their children's children- 18 with those who keep his covenant and remember to obey his precepts. 19 The LORD has established his throne in heaven, and his kingdom rules over all. 20 Praise the LORD, you his angels, you mighty ones who do his bidding, who obey his word. 21 Praise the LORD, all his heavenly hosts, you his servants who do his will. 22 Praise the LORD, all his works everywhere in his dominion. Praise the LORD, O my soul.

Black Beans in a crockpot. Lucious, lowfat, fiber filled.

If you suffer from diabetes, beans offer a source of complex carbohydrates that will not cause a rapid increase in blood sugar. Because the starches in beans take longer to break down, they have a low glycemic index. This means that sugar is released more slowly into the bloodstream, which keeps total glucose levels lower over a longer period of time. They are also low in calories, an excellent benefit if you are trying to watch your weight and still enjoy rich, satisfying meals.

Is it humility or the height of pride to claim we are spiritual

I recently heard a believer describe herself as "unspiritual".  She said she would never call herself spiritual.  But I was reminded of a verse in 1 Corinthians 2:15 - The spiritual man makes judgments about all things, but he himself is not subject to any man's judgment: (1 Corinthians 2:14-16 (in Context) 1 Corinthians 2 (Whole Chapter). There … Continue reading Is it humility or the height of pride to claim we are spiritual
