UNFADING BEAUTY
BEAUTY FORMED BY GOD • 1 PETER 3:3–4
You Matter Now More Than Ever
Weekly Letter of Encouragement | October 27, 2026

Dear Friends: As we grow older, we may find ourselves asking where our worth comes from. I wonder, however, where our worth came from all along?
From the beginning, God made us in His image (Genesis 1:27). Before we were praised for our beauty, valued for our accomplishments, or needed by those around us, we bore His image. Our dignity did not begin with what we could contribute, and it does not disappear when our abilities change.
The psalmist wrote, “I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:14, KJV). Our worth begins with the God who made us. And for those of us who belong to Christ, our identity is also redeemed in Him. Romans 5:8 reminds us that Christ loved us while we were yet sinners—not after we had proven our usefulness.
We do not serve so that we can become worthy. We serve because we are loved. We do not create or accomplish things to prove our lives matter. We offer our gifts in faithful stewardship. As Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works. His workmanship comes first; the good works follow.
Aging can bring growth, loss, or both. The face in the mirror may have changed, but the mirror cannot tell our whole story. It cannot reveal that God sees us, that Christ died for us, or that the inward person can be “renewed day by day” even as the outward person changes (2 Corinthians 4:16).
And listen to the Lord’s promise in Isaiah 46:4: “And even to your old age I am he; and even to hoar hairs will I carry you.” The One who made us has not abandoned us. He promises to carry and sustain us through the years.
Whether we are active or confined to bed, surrounded by loved ones or feeling alone, still working or no longer able to work, our worth does not rise and fall with our circumstances. It rests in God—not in youth, appearance, productivity, or the approval of others.
A question for reflection: For years, I measured my worth by __________.
What have we been asking to carry the weight of our worth?
A Prayer for This Week
Heavenly Father, thank You for making us in Your image and for loving us before we could ever earn Your favor. Forgive us for measuring our worth by the mirror, our accomplishments, or how much others need us. Renew us inwardly day by day. Help us serve from the assurance of Your love, and remind us that You will carry us even into old age. In Jesus’ name, amen.
Until next time, may we continue to see beauty differently through the lens of Scripture. We’re living, we’re learning, and we’re growing wiser together. Remember: true beauty does not fade. It is formed by God.
With love and encouragement,
Angela | Unfading Beauty
